Work Experience
Rebalance MD
Victoria, BC
Spring 2015
Kinesiologist
I had a 4 month co-op placement at Rebalance MD from January - April 2015. During this time I worked as a kinesiologist in the physiotherapy department. For a large portion of my work term I worked with post-operative physiotherapy for hip and knee replacements. I learned about client care, exercise prescription, functional exercises, rehabilitation goals, contraindications, and communication with seniors and older adults. The other part of my job was assisting physiotherapists with rehabilitation exercises, ensuring safety, customer service, and allowing the clinic to run efficiently and effectively.

Camp Chief Hector
Exshaw, AB
2012/ 2014/ 2015
Spring/ Summer 2015 - Spring 2015 I worked as a Program Specialist for Hector Spring School, leading outdoor education programs supporting grade 5 and 6 curriculum. As a Program Specialist I supported instructors and facilitated experiential education programming. Along with a support staff team, we supervised 28 staff, who counselled up to 250 grade 5 and 6 students each week. In Summer, I co-directed the Yamnuska 6-day camps section, supervising up to 24 staff, who counselled up to 100 children each week. I led staff training, provided positive and growth-oriented feedback to staff, facilitated programs, developed and led professional development programs, acted as a liaison between parents and campers, undertook administrative tasks to organize my section, and assisted in behavioural management of campers.
Summer 2014 - Summer 2014 I led 20-day Canoe trips on the Churchill River in Northern Saskatchewan. With ten 16-year old campers, and one co-counsellor, the Leadership One Program at CCH focuses on leadership development throughout the 30 days together. Through teach-backs, Leader-of-the-Day Roles, Risk Management Assessment, Skill Acquisition and Skill Mastery, these teens became confident young women, able not on to survive in the wilderness, but thrive in it and facilitate outdoor experiences for others. These young women will be the leaders of tomorrow. See Outdoor Adventures for more details and Photo's!
Spring/Summer 2012 - Spring 2012 I worked as an Outdoor Educator with the Hector Spring School program. I facilitated programming in association with grade 5 and 6 school curriculum in a fun and engaging way. This program allowed individuals to connect with the natural environment, connect with others around them, and start to see what their potential is as an individual. Summer 2012 I led hiking trips through the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. Teamwork, communication, risk management, and a passion for working with kids and the outdoors are a must. With one co-counsellor and 10 campers ages 11-13, I led 3-4 day hiking trips. On site we live in tipi's as part of CCH tradition and are responsible for the well-being of the campers as well as facilitating leadership, acceptance, friendship, learning, and community within the group. I was able to bring energy and a playful nature to working with others, lead with passion, and teach others's specific skills with confidence.

Camp Green Acres
Markham, ON
Summer 2010/ 2011
Camp Green Acres is a Day Camp located in Southern Ontario, that provides a full outdoor experience, but still close to the city. Working with ages 5-10 I learned to bring a positive and enthusiastic energy every day to work. Creativity is essential to keep young kids moving and having fun. The ability to motivate young kids out of their comfort zone through a creative, outgoing, energetic, and approachable personality was essential to create an atmosphere of acceptance, friendship, fun and challenge.
